Definitions:
S/T Perinatal Data Collections:
NSW: Fetal distress is evidenced by the clinician's documented diagnosis of fetal distress. SA: Definition of fetal distress will be influenced by the availability of monitoring facilities. WA: Identified by any means including a fresh meconium staining of the liquor in the 1st stage of labour, abnormalities of fetal heart rate, etc. TAS: Fetal Indications including abnormal CTG and/or scalp pH, meconium staining of amniotic fluid, congenital abnormality, prematurity, multifetal gestation or cord complication.
ANZNN: Any 'distress' of this fetus leading to intervention by the obstetric team. The term “fetal distress” should be replaced by “fetal compromise”. QLD PMC: non-reassuring CTG and fetal bradycardia
VIC and TAS collect "other complications of labour" as a free text field which may capture fetal distress. ACT collect Non-reassuring CTG as complication of labour and birth.
