METeOR: The diagnosis established after study to be chiefly responsible for occasioning an episode of admitted patient care, an episode of residential care or an attendance at the health care establishment, as represented by a code.
This item would contain principal diagnoses relating to the birth episode and neonatal period. Normal deliveries will have a code of Z38.0 only. Other examples include congenital abnormalities (Q00-Q99), respiratory conditions of the newborn (P22) and complications related to delivery.
