Definition:
ANZNN: Cystic change in cerebral hemisphere measured by the ultrasound scan closest to six weeks of age. Record worst cystic periventricular leukomalacia severity (extensive or localised) if more cystic changes seen in 4 to 8 week scans.

ANZNN: No cysts - No cystic lesions seen on ultrasound; Porencephalic cyst(s); Periventricular leukomalacia primarily confined to one of the regions: anterior frontal, posterior frontal, parietal, temporal or occipital region (same as defined for periventricular haemorrhage); Extensive leukomalacia involving two or more of the above regions; Unkown - information not available, includes not scanned. Note, two seperate items exist for left cysts and right cysts.

ANZNN: Item is for babies born at less than 32 weeks' gestation or with birthweight less than 1,500 grams only.
