Definitions:
S/T Perinatal Data Collections:
NSW: The death of a live born infant within 28 days of birth. VIC: The death of a live born infant, less than 28 days after birth, of at least 20 weeks gestation or if gestation is unknown weighing at least 400 grams. QLD: The death of a live born baby within the first 28 days of life.
Descriptions:
SA: The death of a live born baby within the first 28 days of life. WA: The death of a live born baby within the first 28 days of life. TAS: A death occurring within 28 days of birth in an infant whose birth weight was at least 400grams, or if the weight was not known , an infant born after 20 weeks of gestation. NT: The death of a live born baby within 28 days of birth.

Additional information

SA are the only state to specify the term "neonatal death", all other S/T use the term "died". NSW, QLD, VIC, ACT Perinatal Data Collections collect this as part of the item Baby Discharge Status and needs to be derived. QLD PMC collect whether it was a non-admitted neonatal death, in hospital or TOP.
