S/T Perinatal Data Collections:
NSW: Maternal death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth within 42 days of birth, irrespective of the duration and the site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management. VIC: Refers to the discharge from the hospital premises due to the death of a mother. Record the reason for maternal death in complications events of labour and birth and or/postpartum complications. TAS: The death of a woman, while pregnant or within 42 days of cessation of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and the site of pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management.
Descriptions:
QLD: The mother died during the current hospital admission. SA: Maternal death is defined as the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, irrespective of the duration and the site of the pregnancy, from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy or its management but not form accidental or incidental causes. VIC Maternal death: The death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of the termination of the pregnancy irrespective if the cause of death.
VIC provide a free text field to specify the cause of death, and on e-Medical Deposition Form for Coroners Court there is a tick box "Was the patient pregnant in the last 12 months?".
