Definitions:
METeOR: The total number of previous pregnancies of a female resulting in induced abortion (termination of pregnancy before 20 weeks' gestation).
S/T Perinatal Data Collections:
QLD: Includes spontaneous abortion (less than 20 weeks gestation and less than 400 grams birthweight); induced abortion (termination of pregnancy before 20 weeks gestation); ectopic pregnancy; or molar pregnancy. SA: termination of pregnancy - induced abortion. VIC: The total number of previous pregnancies of a female resulting in induced abortion (termination of pregnancy before 20 weeks gestation. TAS: A terminated pregnancy is defined as a live pregnancy that is artificially terminated prior to 20 weeks gestation.
Description:
ACT: An induced abortion refers to an intervention undertaken to terminate a pregnancy before the completion of 20 weeks gestation.
TAS and ACT definitions are similar. QLD collect outcome of previous pregnancies and in a single item includes spontaneous abortion (less than 20 weeks gestation and less than 400 grams birthweight); induced abortion (termination of pregnancy before 20 weeks gestation); ectopic pregnancy; or molar pregnancy. These are not counted separately. QLD PMC also collect complications for each previous pregnancy. Birth and Death Registration Collections collect this item for stillbirths (Birth Register) and neonatal deaths (Death Register) only.
