Definitions:
METeOR: The total number of antenatal care visits attended by a pregnant female. An antenatal care visit does not include a visit where the sole purpose of contact is to confirm the pregnancy only, or those contacts that occurred during the pregnancy that related to other non-pregnancy related issues. An antenatal care visit does not include a visit where the sole purpose of contact is to perform image screening, diagnostic testing or the collection of bloods or tissue for pathology testing. Exception to this rule is made when the health professional performing the procedure or test is a doctor or midwife and the appointment directly relates to this pregnancy and the health and wellbeing of the fetus.
S/T Perinatal Data Collections:
NSW: The number of antenatal visits during this pregnancy. SA: This information may be obtained from the Pregnancy Record or the case notes of the patient. If there is no Pregnancy Record, provide an estimated number of attendances by asking the patient.
Vic: The total number of antenatal care visits attended by a pregnant female.
MOC NBPDS: An indicator of whether there are a minimum number of planned visits with a medical practitioner scheduled for all women in a model of maternity care, as represented by a code.
Descriptions:
QLD Perinatal Data Collection: The total number of antenatal visits for the current pregnancy. This information can be obtained from the case notes (hospital clinic patients) or by asking the mother. The question is designed to measure the amount of supervision in the current pregnancy. Note that if more than one type of antenatal care has been provided please report the total number of visits for the pregnancy, not just those provided at the reporting facility. S/T Births and Deaths Registrations Collections: SA: No. of antenatal visits. NSW, ACT, QLD: Two or more antenatal visits.
